Children’s Ministry Director

Helen First Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Children’s Ministry Director to join our ministry staff. Located in the Northeast Georgia mountains, we average around 300 people for Sunday morning worship.

SUPERVISION: Reports to Lead Pastor

TIME EXPECTATIONS:  Full-Time, Salaried Position

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to articulate a "call" to children's ministry (1 Cor. 1:26; Rom. 11:29)

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in a field related to Early Childhood Education or Christian Education

  • Active follower of Jesus for a minimum of three years

  • Active member of a local church

  • Willingness to affirm the latest version of the Baptist Faith and Message

  • Demonstrated ability to teach children effectively in a children's ministry setting

  • Demonstrated ability to lead adults effectively in a church setting

  • Competency with a variety of computer software programs and platforms

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Willingness to grow through consistent learning opportunities

  • Ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries with children and adults

  • Ability to manage interpersonal conflict 

  • Ability to work as part of a church ministry team

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and supervise a comprehensive Children’s Ministry for ages birth through 5th grade

  • Enlist, train and supervise lay leadership in conducting the following programs and activities: AWANA, Children’s Church, Sunday School, VBS, and other programs/events as may be established

  • Review and recommend curriculum resources for all Children’s Ministry areas

  • Enlist, train and supervise church childcare workers

  • Coordinate background screening on all children’s ministry volunteer workers

  • Conduct meetings with ministry leadership, parents, etc. as appropriate to discern ministry needs

  • Prepare and submit budget requests to Stewardship Committee, and oversee Children's Ministry budget throughout the year

  • Understand laws regarding child abuse and report all suspected abuse to appropriate authorities

  • Regularly attend weekly staff meetings

  • Perform other related responsibilities as may be requested
