Steve Smith
After living in bondage to addiction for 20 years I completed twelve months in a recovery program. I still felt as if something was missing in my life and realized my need of The Savior. I gave my life to Jesus on January 2, 2012, and was baptized two weeks later. Six months later I felt the call to ministry and preached on several occasions at a few camp meetings and served as youth pastor in my local church. After meeting my wife and moving, I joined Concord Baptist Church where I began leading the college ministry at their Clermont campus. In addition to leading the college community group, my wife and I hosted a weekly college bible study in our home. I surrendered to the call to ministry that the Lord placed on my life and desire to serve him full time or bi-vocationally through a local church. In November of 2022 we felt the Lord moving us to another church and visited Helen First Baptist Church in December. God made it abundantly clear that he wanted us planted and serving at Helen First Baptist Church. I began meeting with Pastor Jim Holmes as a pastoral intern learning much from him. Today, I continue to meet with a small group of men for accountability every week, disciple several college aged men weekly, and teach Sunday school at Helen First Baptist Church when needed.
I seek to follow the Lord's call to share the love of Jesus with others by working within a church to help others in understanding, embracing, and accomplishing the great commission, to make disciples locally and globally, and engaging Christ followers in worship, community, and service.
On March 17, 2017, I married Emwynn Rebecca (Avra) Smith. Rebecca is very involved in ministry and is currently seeking her Master's in Professional Counseling at Truett-McConnell University while working as the Administrative Director at Strong Rock Camp and Retreat.
