Bill Terry
The third Sunday in August, 1960, is my spiritual birthday. At the age of 13, I knelt at my home church altar and asked Christ into my life as personal Savior. In spite of my weaknesses and failures during these intervening years, He has never failed nor forsaken me. Born and raised in Florida, I am the oldest (and only boy) of four children. Graduating from Florida State University in 1968, the Lord enabled me to have several secular vocational experiences in preparation for my calling into ministry in 1982.
Most notable among those was serving as Youth Director at McCoy Air Force Base in Orlando where I would be introduced to my future wife Margie in 1968. Married in September 1968, our family consists of 2 sons (Bill and Brad) and 4 grandchildren (ages 3 – 18).
In the Spring of 1982, the Lord began a stirring in my heart that would ultimately result in a call and commitment to full-time ministry. The preparation process began in August 1982, with seminary studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
I have been blessed to serve on church staff at the following churches: Cherryville (NC) First Baptist Church (January 1984 – August 1990); Lilburn (GA) First Baptist Church (August 1990 – July 2005), and; Helen First Baptist Church (August 2005 – present).
My spiritual life verse is Proverbs 19:21 which states “Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.”
