The missions ministry of Helen First Baptist Church is modeled after the pattern of Acts 1:8. Jesus told the disciples, “You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest parts of the earth.” Missions and evangelism are not a separate task that we do, but an integral part of every ministry. Our concern is that everyone in Helen and White County, Georgia, North America, and the world will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
LOCAL - As well as conducting church outreach activities to reach our local area, Helen FBC works in partnership with Georgia Mountain Resort Ministries (GMRM) to touch the lives of the many visitors to our northeast Georgia mountain tourist/resort community.
NATIONAL - In January 2016, Helen FBC adopted St. Rose Community Church in New Orleans as a mission partnership. Under the leadership of pastor Brandon Langley, St Rose is working to revitalize the church and reach the community in Kenner, a town northwest of New Orleans. We are excited about our partnership with St. Rose. This summer, a team from HFBC will assist them with their Vacation Bible School in July. It is exciting to hear the reports of how the community is responding to the presence of St. Rose church. We look forward to seeing how God will continue to move as pastor Brandon and St Rose reach this community with the light of the gospel.
INTERNATIONAL - Helen FBC has been engaged in long term partnerships in Kenya and Tanzania Since 2002, HFBC members have served on mission teams and as full-time missionaries in Kenya, Tanzania, Ecuador, Haiti, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Brazil, China, Honduras, Indonesia, Mexico, the Middle East, Nicaragua, Peru, Romania, and Russia.
Summer 2017 Mission Trips
Kenya/Tanzania: June 3-26, 2017
This past June a joint team from Helen FBC and Truett McConnell College returned to East Africa. The first week the team worked in Mwanza, Tanzania on the shores of Lake Victoria. The last part of the trip they served in Tarime, Tanzania near the Kenya Border. They also lead two youth and women's conferences and vacation Bible schools in both Mwanza and Tarime. In Mwanza, they had the opportunity to work at the Compassion International Center. Also, they assisted with two new church plants by participating in hut to hut evangelism and finally culminated the trip by leading Sunday Services for each location. This was an incredible opportunity for our church to minister to the people in Tanzania and Kenya.
New Orleans, Louisiana: St. Rose VBS - July 16-22, 2017
Helen FBC returned to work with our church partner, St. Rose Community Church, in Kenner, Louisiana. Our team helped set up and run their VBS program. We look forward to serving St. Rose and the community of Kenner this summer. If you are interested in being a part of this trip, contact Audra Minish at Helen FBC.
