Small Group Expectations

Expectations for All Groups

1.     Co-ed groups will not meet in situations where only one unmarried male and female are together.

2.     If groups include persons under the age of 18, there must be at least two adults present when the group meets.

3.     Group activities are to respect and reflect the Christian nature of the group.

4.     Group meetings are not to include the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

5.     Any curriculum used (other than the Bible) in a group must be approved in advance by a member of the pastoral staff.

6.     Group leaders are expected to follow pastoral leadership and oversight. 

7.     All group leaders and teachers who would potentially work with persons under the age of 18 must be willing to have a background screening and child safety training. 

8.     All group leaders and teachers must be approved by a pastor before leading or teaching a group.  

 

Expectations for Community Groups

1.     Group leaders are encouraged to have a brief time for a devotional and/or sharing prayer needs if appropriate for that group.

2.     Group leaders are expected to be part of a Learning Group or Transformation Group.

3.     Group leaders are encouraged to invite group members to participate in a Learning Group or Transformation Group.  

 

Expectations for Learning Groups

1.     Group leaders are expected to use the Bible or biblically focused curriculum as their group's primary text. 

2.     Group leaders are expected to include time for participants to share about their lives and to share prayer requests.

3.     Group leaders are expected to lead group members in caring for one another.

4.     Group leaders are expected to make time for adequate personal study and prayer.

5.     Group leaders are encouraged to use a variety of teaching methods.

6.     Group leaders are encouraged to make use of training opportunities that are offered by the church.

 

Expectations for Transformation Groups

1.     Group leaders are expected to take time for adequate personal study and prayer.

2.     Group leaders are encouraged to make use of training opportunities that are offered by the church.

3.     Group leaders are encouraged to participate in a Learning Group.

4.     Group leaders are encouraged to invite group members to participate in a Learning Group.
