Helen First Baptist offers several ministries for our members to participate in....
HFBC offers brief pastoral counseling at no cost for church members and community members. Depending on the situation, persons seeking help may be referred to outside, fee-based counseling or to other appropriate agencies. For more information, contact Associate Pastor Jim Gant at (706) 200-1965.
HFBC leads residents of Gateway and Friendship Nursing Homes in worship every other week. Volunteers meet at the scheduled nursing home each Monday at 10:30 AM.
HFBC offers a number of opportunities for prayer. We also have a Prayer Room on the second floor where people can learn about prayer and experience God’s presence.
Bread of Life
The Bread of Life ministry distributes food on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Plan to arrive at 7:45 AM.
Members of HFBC teach the Bible to inmates at the White County Detention Center every Sunday afternoon. We also offer Bibles to them at no charge, and provide counseling during the week to inmates who request it. Participants in this ministry must be members of HFBC and must complete a background check.
English as a Second Language
English Second Language (ESL) classes are offered for adults of any nationality who want to improve their English communication skills. Classes meet on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:45 PM. Childcare and activities for children and youth are provided. Participants are invited to a free family meal each Wednesday at 5:15 PM. CLASSES DO NOT MEET IN SUMMER.
